How can I start to feel Inner Peace?

Why is Inner Peace the number one desire for people going into their 40s?

In a world where there are so many factors that cause a person to feel completely stressed and overwhelmed, finding inner peace is a challenge. The demands of life whether it’s from work deadlines, fitting in with colleagues, family needs, financial pressure and or a challenging relationship can leave one feeling completely stretched. By the time one is reaching their 40s they are exhausted from the constant giving and compromising that is required to be a contributing member of society. They finally get to that point in their lives where they think, what about me? Who am I and what makes me happy? How can I start to feel Inner Peace?

How can I start to feel Inner Peace?

Inner Peace comes from becoming self-aware. By taking ownership of your own personal happiness, behaviours, attitude your thoughts and your emotions. It comes when you make the choice to not be a victim. To rather become the director of your life story. When one thinks of peace, we conjure up images of Buddhist monks and Saints who live a modest life without much wants or desires. If you can achieve a sense of peace whilst living a full and normal life this the ultimate win. When working with my clients I help them understand how to become aware of and raise their consciousness.

Raising your consciousness comes from being in control of your emotions. Especially the negative ones that take you further away from peace and happiness. I ask my clients this question. “When you are angry at a taxi driver who cuts you off, do you feel at peace in those moments?” Or, how about when you and your partner are on rocky ground and are consistently fighting? Almost always their answer is NO! One can not achieve peace whilst experiencing negative emotions. Negative emotions such as anger, fear, doubt, guilt or shame.

As you take accountability for the problems in your life that are causing you to feel these emotions, you will start to gain Inner Peace.

Practices that I carry out in my life to achieve my Inner Peace.

Firstly I put into practice all my teachings. I ensure that I am consistently mindful of how my actions and thoughts are affecting me. In a situation that pisses me off, makes me sad or frustrated, this is what I do. I allow myself to feel the emotion (lol in that moment, my kids know not to mess with me). However, I don’t dwell in it. I quickly rationalize my thoughts to bring me back to a positive state of mind. I practice gratitude every day. If I see a beggar on the street, I think to myself how grateful I am for all that I do have. I exercise nearly every morning whilst listening to my favorite music (which is Latin by the way). If you watch me at gym, I often hit some salsa moves between sets.

At the end of my day I allow for solitude and alone time. To reflect on my actions, reactions and the outcomes it created for me so that I can do better.

Gaining and maintaining inner peace comes with consistent reflection and awareness. So that it can always be maintained despite life’s obstacles and challenges. Email me to learn more about how I can assist you in raising your consciousness and achieving inner peace.
